6 BENEFITS OF NATURAL INGREDIENTS.

Natural ingredients are obtained from mother nature through minimal physical means such as distillation, maceration or solvent extraction in order to retain its structure. Examples of natural ingredients are essential oils and cold pressed vegetable oils. Natural ingredients include plants, animals or mineral ingredients which are provided to us by mother nature.

The natural ingredients are taken care of in an ecological manner i.e. grown, harvested, raised and even processed. They are free from chemicals i.e. not produced or processed using any chemicals and they are not genetically modified. There are a few terms concerning natural ingredients that may be a bit confusing in cosmetics.

  • nterest in “natural” food has grown enormously over the last decade. Because the United States government has not set a legal definition for the term “natural”, customers have formed their own sensory perceptions and opinions on what constitutes natural. In this study, we examined 20 ingredients to determine what consumers consider to be natural. Using a national database, 630 consumers were sampled (50% male and 50% female) online, and the results were analyzed using percentages and chi-square tests. No ingredient was considered natural by more than 69% of respondents. We found evidence that familiarity may play a major role in consumers’ determination of naturalness. We also found evidence that chemical sounding names and the age of the consumer have an effect on whether an ingredient and potentially a food is considered natural. • Plant based generally means that the product is made of 100% plant ingredients.
  • Animal based means that the product is made of 100% animal ingredients.

The following are benefits of using natural ingredients for cosmetics:

  1. Safe for all skin types.
  2. No artificial chemicals used.
  3. Safe for the environment.
  4. Cruelty free.
  5. No side effects.
  6. Great for skin health.

Safe for all skin types.

Natural ingredients work perfectly for all skin types whether oily, dry, normal, combination. They also work perfectly fine for people with sensitive skin. The use of the natural ingredients in making different kinds of cosmetics make it easier for people with problematic skin to be able to use these cosmetics because they will no longer get worried about the cosmetics making their skin even worse.

No artificial chemicals used.

Natural ingredients contain no synthetic chemicals at all depending on how they were grown, bred, harvested. When they are formulated to make natural cosmetics, no artificial chemicals or perfumes are used in the production process. The harmful chemicals which are mostly used in the making of beauty products, parabens, are usually used as preservatives to increase the shelf life of these products are not used in natural cosmetics due to the studies which have shown that the parabens disrupt oestrogen production in the body. Natural ingredients are free from harmful chemicals, no parabens, synthetic fragrances and artificial preservatives which result to various health problems.

Safe for the environment.

Natural ingredients are the best to use if you want to help save the environment due to the chemical free production process it usually goes through when making natural beauty products. Artificial chemicals are considered harmful to the environment and also to the human body. During the production process, the emission of the chemicals to the environment causes the environment to degrade in that the air we breathe becomes poisonous also depletes the ozone layer hence making the sun rays harmful to our skin and other environment pollution. Using natural ingredients to formulate beauty products prevents all this from happening therefore making our environment safe.

The substances you put onto your skin find their way into your body. If you think about it, people who want to stop smoking wear nicotine patches and menopausal women are routinely prescribed hormone patches. This means you are potentially exposing your body to a whole range of chemical substances without fully understanding the effects they could have on your body.Cruelty free.

Cruelty free just means that a product is not tested on animals. Some cosmetic companies or brands test their products on animals to ensure that they are effective and safe for use by humans which is a cruel and harsh thing to do to other animals. Natural ingredients do not need this kind of harshness to be able to be considered safe to use. They are just tested in the laboratories where they are formulated to make beauty products by experts with sate of the art equipment and not animals.

No side effects.

Some beauty products in the market when used can cause irritation to the skin among other side effects to the skin and the body as well as one’s health. Natural ingredients, just as their name suggests, they are natural and are not expected to cause irritation unless one is allergic to some of the ingredients.

In a year, on average, you could be absorbing 5lbs worth of potentially toxic chemicals from your personal care products. The skin is our fourth organ of detoxification after the bowels, kidneys and liver and it needs also to be allowed to do its job as a protective barrier. As the skin is thought to absorb into the bloodstream a significant amount of what we put onto it, it surely makes sense to avoid skin products which can combine to create a cocktail of toxic chemicals and to minimise the amount of potentially harmful ingredients we put into our bodies, wherever possible, by taking as much care over what we put on our bodies as we do when deciding what to put in them.
100% natural

Great for skin health.

Natural ingredients provide the skin with the nourishment it needs to help the skin be healthy. Ingredients like vitamin e, castor oil, frankincense oil among others have properties which help boost the skins health and fight infections. The natural ingredients are also high in antioxidants which help the skin from aging hence the youthful skin glow is achieved. Then natural ingredients also come with non-comedogenic properties which make them great for people with oily skin and acne prone skin. This means that the pores in the skin will not get clogged. Apart from fighting acne, natural ingredients also help fight against eczema, psoriasis and other skin infections.

The skin is the largest organ our body has and it absorbs every product applied over it. The products therefore can reach our blood vessels directly to the blood stream so this is why we need to be careful with the products we choose to use on our skin. The natural ingredients are harmful hence the best choice for beauty or cosmetic products.
